Lithium-ion batteries are dangerous goods, that means special rules apply to transport them. Please make sure to have a read beforehand to avoid your parcel being returned or disposed by our shipping carriers.
Lithium-ion batteries shipped in or along with equipment
We can transport batteries shipped in or along with equipment under the following conditions:
- Net weight of the battery must not exceed 5kg
- Capacity must not exceed 100Wh per battery and 20Wh per cell
Available carriers
Please do note that lithium-ion batteries can only be shipped with UPS and DHL Express. If shipped with DPD the maximum allowed capacity is 10Wh per cell.
Shipping lithium-ion batteries with Deutsche Post and ShipGerman Economy is prohibited.
Required markings
We need to apply a warning sticker to highlight the dangerous goods content in one of the following cases:
- The shipment contains batteries packed along with equipment
- The shipment contains at least 2 batteries or 4 cells (e.g. if you are shipping two phones in the same box)
If your shipment fulfills one of the conditions above please contact customer service as soon as we have received your item to make sure that we can apply the required markings. This is free of charge for you. Otherwise the shipment may be returned or disposed by the carrier if the markings are missing.
How to compute the battery capacity
You can compute the battery capacity by multiplying the number of Amps with the voltage. That means for a standard phone battery with 5V and 5.000mAh (= 5Ah) the capacity is 5V x 5Ah = 25Wh and can be shipped.
Lithium-ion batteries shipped without equipment
We can not ship lithium-ion batteries without equipment. This includes power banks.
